Parent Newsletter Bovina Middle School TEA Recognized Campus February 2010
Principal’s Corner
Hello parents and guardians… Bovina Middle School students have been working hard and did a great job the first semester and have been continuing to work very hard during the fourth six weeks. Unfortunately we had to cancel theMiddle School All-Region Band training clinic and concert performance but we were able to do a makeup activity and students were able to see the Texas Tech symphonic band perform and were able to attend a tour of the Texas Tech University campus. Congratulations to the 13 students that qualified for the Early Release Program for the fourth six weeks. Attendance continues to be fantastic … Thank you parents for keeping your children healthy and getting them to school. Our attendance rate at BMS was 97.0% for the fourth six weeks thus far. We conducted our Scripps National Spelling Bee local contest last Thursday and I am happy to announce our winners. First place was Julian Martinez, second place went to Arturo Aguillion, and third place went to Brittany Perez. Congratulations to these three students. They will represent Bovina MS in the Parmer County Spelling Bee on Tuesday Feb 9 at 10 AM. The general public is invited to attend and all of you are invited to come and show your support. We are certainly looking to have a great second semester and thank you again parents and guardians for your support.

FYI… The spread of germs and illness is a continual concern. This flu season is expected to be worse than usual because on the H1N1 virus. The best protection for your student is to wash their hands often using running water and soap. They should let the water run at least 16 seconds. We have placed signs throughout the school to remind students to practice good hygiene with thorough hand washing and recently we have installed hand sanitizers at various locations. As always Parents/Guardians we appreciate your continued support and our staff looks forward to the privilege of working with your students. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely, David Newhouse
